Earwigs get their name from an old superstition that they would crawl into a person’s ear while they were sleeping and bore into their brain! Fortunately, that’s just a superstition. While earwigs are considered to be “an occasional home invader,” an earwig infestation can be a real problem if you don’t deal with it. Earwig harborage areas such as mulch, flagstones or patio stones, a deck or an above-ground pool all have the potential to cause a significant infestation.
