A small coastal town located on Cape Ann, Manchester by the Sea is an ideal spot for a summer getaway or a lifelong residency. Manchester itself is residential, but features an impressive number of famous beaches – like Singing Beach with its squeaking sand – and islands, coves, and conservation areas that attract local tourism. However, that’s not to say that the more than 5,000 residents of this picturesque area of Massachusetts are isolated! From Manchester, one can easily access Salem and Boston – and that ease of access is reciprocal.
Unfortunately, the very conditions that make Manchester attractive to people year round also attract infestations of pests. Much like its seaside neighbors, Manchester is a prime breeding spot for unwanted critters like rodents and other creepy crawlies due to the habitable climate and the moisture in the air. The ocean and coast line combined with the wet marshes creates a perfect climate for bugs like mosquitos. Meanwhile, the wooded conservation areas are an attraction for rodents of all types and as much as they love the woods in the warm months, they love your home even more when it gets chilly.
While there is no real way to eliminate these pests without negatively impacting the local ecosystems, there are steps you can take to take care of pests in your Manchester home. The easiest way to keep these unwanted critters outside is to do your best to keep entry points closed (e.g., repair holes in attic walls and seal basement cracks) and to promote a low-moisture environment indoors and in your yard.
Colonial Pest can take care of any of the pest problems that plague Manchester-by-the-Sea residents – from those mentioned on this page, to any of the infestations listed on our Services pages. All it takes is a phone call to 800-525-8084!
