Indian Meal Moth

The Indian Meal Moth is the most common food-infesting pest found in homes today. Most infestations are a result of bringing home contaminated bird seed or dry dog food. A food source that is infested will generally have a webbing type material and larvae present. Most infestations are first discovered when the adult moth begins to fly. The adult Indian Meal Moth is easy to identify. They are about 3/8th long and if you look at the moth closely, you will notice that about 1/3rd of the outer wing is copper colored with the remaining 2/3 thirds a light beige color. Also, when the moths are flying they tend to fly in a slow zigzag pattern are consequently, fairly easy to capture. Obviously, the most important step in controlling the Indian Meal Moth is to remove all sources of contaminated food. Colonial Pest Control has effective control measures to rid your home of this pest. Call us today at 1-800-525-8084 for more information or to schedule a site inspection.
