Q. We have had an ongoing problem for years with those big, shiny green blow flies periodically showing up in our house, usually in the fall. I know they can be associated with dead animals but we haven’t had any of those that I know of. Where else can they be coming from?
VIEW MOREQ. What are those brown spots that you find in corners and in places that have lots of cockroaches? Is that cockroach poop? It’s hard to wash off of walls, I’ve discovered.
VIEW MOREQ. What do booklice look like? Sometimes I feel like I’m being bitten in my home and I have lots of books. Do the lice live in the books?
VIEW MOREQ. Can you explain to me what a grain mite is? Can you see it? Does it bite?
VIEW MOREQ. Would termites cause lots of tiny, round holes (I call them “shot holes”) in a wooden dresser?
VIEW MOREQ. I’ve had a problem in the past with clothes moths that I think I’ve finally solved. What can I do to keep from getting clothes moths again?
A. Good for you, being proactive. You already know that there’s something about your situation that clothes moths like so it’s important to change those “conducive conditions,” as we call them in the pest control business.
VIEW MOREQ. We keep finding silverfish in various rooms, but especially the bathroom. What do they feed on? I thought they were predators on other insects but I don’t see any other bugs in my bathrooms.
VIEW MOREWashing the kids’ clothes should kill any hitchhiking ticks that are still hanging on. It should, but does it? Ticks are tough, as anyone who’s tried to kill one knows.
